What You Can Expect
My style is to be easy-going, warm, and open. I believe my job is to join with my clients and help them find solutions, not to dictate what they should do.
Times are tough and many people have taken a hit both financially and emotionally. I specialize in helping individuals and couples deal with depression, stress, anxiety, and life issues. I am low-key, caring, and empathic... We get to the issues and find solutions as quickly as possible.
Your first visit will include a discussion of what therapy is and is not, confidentiality and other ethical considerations. Also, I am very interested in your story, of what brought you to this point, and what you want to gain from therapy. Hopefully by the end of the first session we will both have a good idea of the specific things we need to deal with. This tentative plan can be revised as needed.
I don't like to waste time. I believe in a combination of real support and honest challenging to get to the heart of the issue as well as careful nudging to 'try on' various new behaviors. Using a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Transactional Analysis, as well as techniques borrowed from Recovery and Biblical truth, we will move towards your goals.
